Memories Part 2: Spreading The Hope

Chapter 6

Oh, hi there. I thought all you readers were still between chapters. C'mon in the kitchen so we don't wake up the tribe.

I was just kinda watching them sleep. It's just amazing how they all came together as well as they did. I think they all feel the same. I'm Davie by the way, David Owens in life. I was originally going to say hi to the readers of Sentenced to Life, but Mikey thought it would be better if he did, and I said hi to you guys instead. I thought it was a cool idea.

Well, as you've already seen, so much has happened in the past couple of days with these guys. Even with myself, I mean Mikey didn't warn me that he had already discussed my future as a full angel with St. Peter. He's sneaky like that sometimes, lots of fun to hang out with tho. Mikey warned me that promising to "take care of my family" was going to be more than I expected. Now that I have a clearer picture of what the future holds, he was right. Not that I regret that promise. I'm actually up for the challenge. Before I was adopted, my family was small. Me, my Dad and my grandmother until she passed away. When my Dad died, Jon and Mary brought me in, and even gave me a little brother. Jerry was the best too. I love being his big brother. It's hard to explain but, it just made me feel like I mattered. Not that I didn't, but it happened when I needed it too the most. Now my family is huge! Every one of them there for the other. How could you not be proud to be able to watch over them even though, I now understand how Mikey felt some help would be nice. Hehehe...

I do need to run though. It's almost morning and something tells me today is gonna be busy. Ok, hectic. But these guys really handle hectic well. Actually, I've read all of Mikey's story and since you are here reading now, I guess you handle hectic pretty well yourself :) They may not know it, but it is nice that you all are watching over them with us. In a way, I guess that makes you all living angels. I'll ask Mikey about that for ya.

See you again soon! (*Hugs*)

The next morning:

Teri and Mary started out of Mary's house to head over to the A.I. Headquarters. Mary chuckled as they talked on the way over. "You know Teri, I'm not too sure the boys are going to like us invading the kitchen like this."

Teri shook her head. "Let me guess, Jerry has not been hit with the teenage appetite yet! Trust me, they are like a pack of wolves at breakfast time; the boys will be happy to see us."

They walked into the house quietly and headed for the kitchen. As they entered the kitchen, Mary gasped. "Oh my GOD!"

Teri looked to where Mary was pointing. "Hmmm ... looks like the boys had a midnight snack!" Teri chuckled as she surveyed the pizza boxes stacked almost to the ceiling. "At least Sean and Cory got some!" she added as she removed the two pizza boxes from the table, read the notes on them, then added them to the pile.

"After seeing that, are you sure that Jon is getting enough supplies?" Mary asked.

"Positive. I had Matt make sure with Helen before they left. She's used to feeding these clowns. Let's see where Marc hides all his pans and utensils; I just hope he's got enough."

As Teri started getting the cooking supplies ready, Mary started a pot of coffee. Just as it was finishing, Mary caught a glimpse of movement over in the hallway. She walked to the kitchen doorway and saw Marc looking out into the living room.

"You're awake!" Mary said, startling him.

"Oh, Hi Mrs. Owens! You came home early?" Marc replied with a smile as he turned and went into the kitchen.

"We heard about the commotion on the news and came right home." Mary said with a smile. "Marc, have you met Sean and Cory's Mom yet?"

"No." He replied as he walked up to Teri and held out his hand to shake hers. "Nice to meet you Mrs. Short." Marc said with a sleepy smile.

"I'm gonna start wearing a name tag that says 'Mom or Teri' so you guys lose the Mrs. Short routine." Teri said with a smile as she pushed Marc's hand aside and gave Marc a hug. "I heard you had a really rough day yesterday. How are you feeling this morning?"

Marc returned the hug while answering; "Like I fought a round with a bear, and lost," he said with a weak giggle as an evil grin crept into his expression. "Is that coffee I smell?"

Teri reached into the cabinet and pulled out a coffee mug and offered it to Marc with a grin. "Help yourself, we knew coffee was probably going to be needed this morning." Teri said as she began to work with Mary, preparing what looked like a breakfast for an army. "I'm led to believe I have a few more boys to look after now from what I've heard."

"Us?" Marc said with surprise as he placed the milk back in the fridge and sat down at the table.

"Well, from what I saw here yesterday, yes you and your family." Teri said with a smile.

"Family." Marc muttered with a smile as he began to sip from his mug. "A few days ago I had no real family, other than Jim. He's more of a friend than family though."

"Well young man, your family seems to have outgrown your house now. I hope you're prepared for this crowd." Teri said with a smile. "I know we just met, but I want you to know that should you ever just need a 'Mom' I will always be there for you. My boys are pretty selective when it comes to adopting new brothers and ready or not, you have been adopted."

"I've seen some of their accomplishments, so I know not to take that lightly." Marc replied with a smile. "Awesome coffee Mrs.... Um... Teri?" he said with a questioning look, which turned into a smile when Teri kissed him on the forehead and ruffled his hair.

"Thank you. Looks like you need a little help getting going today." Teri replied.

"He does look a little pale Teri." Mary added as she placed her hand on Marc's forehead. "Are you feeling alright?"

"I'm fine, really Mrs. Owens. Just a little worn out after what happened with Austin yesterday." Marc said with a weak smile.

"Just Mary, okay? This isn't a formal breakfast." Mary said with a grin. "Kids now-a-days. Being all respectful and stuff." she kidded, getting a laugh from Teri.

"Yup, we need to break 'em in." Teri added as both returned to the stove.

Marc softly giggled as he nursed his coffee. "I think I see where Sean and Cory get their sense of humor!"

They bantered back and forth as Marc worked on his coffee; Mary making sure that Jerry had not given Marc any problems. As Marc finished his second cup, Teri turned from the stove. "Marc honey, could you go in and start waking up the boys?" Teri asked. "Breakfast will be ready soon." she added with a smile.

Marc smiled and stood up. "Okay ... Um ... Mom?" he said as he tilted his head.

Teri turned and smiled at the sight of his expression. "You've never called anyone that, have you?"

"I was programmed to have memories of a Mom, but they aren't real. There was a woman who was kinda my Mom, but she wasn't really. I mean she helped me when my Father died, and was there the first time I ever woke up or ever needed repairs, but I never called her Mom. Just Sharon."

"Get used to it then." Teri said with a smile. "Now go wake up your brothers." she added with a grin.

Marc smiled at Teri as he pushed his chair in. He raised his eyebrows as he noticed the deep purple colored briefs hanging from the back of the chair. He looked thoughtful for a second and then grabbed them and went into the living room. A couple of minutes later, Danny walked into the kitchen, morning wood leading the way.

"Omigod!!! I'm sorry..." Danny screamed as he noticed Teri and Mary in the kitchen and ran back into the living room.

"Was that Danny? And was he naked?" Mary asked in surprise.

Teri smiled. "Yes on both counts; I'd say that it's likely the rest of the boys are that way too. They're more comfortable sleeping that way." As if to prove her point, Sean and Cory came wandering through.

"Morning Mom; morning Mrs. Owens!" the two boys chorused as they followed their pointers to the bathroom.

"That's gonna take getting used to!" Mary chuckled as she watched the two carry on like it was normal routine to walk around nude.

Teri just nodded. "That's why my guys have their own section of the house. I'll be right back, I'm going to check on the rest of the guys."

When Teri returned, she had a concerned look on her face. "Mary, we're going to have to watch Marc; he's still really run down."

"I noticed that earlier." Mary replied. "He's trying to hide it, but it's pretty obvious."

Teri nodded. "He's got a surprise coming; if he thinks he's doing anything today besides resting it's not going to happen. I'll bet you the boys will back me up too."

A few minutes later, Teri felt a small arm wrap around her leg. "Hi gran'ma. Dat smells good."

Teri turned around just as Mary exclaimed "Oh my God! Are those wild animals?"

"No, they are boys!" Teri giggled. "Oh, you mean the birds? That's William and Duke."

Teri reached down and absently straightened Timmy's hair. "Mary, I'd like you to meet my grandson Timmy. Timmy; this is Jerry's mom, Mrs. Owens."

"Hi Mrs. Owens." Timmy said shyly.

"What you got there?" Teri asked as she noticed the furball in Timmy's arm.

"He's a baby waccoon. We's gonna give him to Kane for 'is birthday tomorrow. William said it's okay." Timmy announced proudly.

"Poor Linda!" Teri muttered under her breath before responding. "Is he hungry? What can he eat?"

Timmy smiled as he replied "He says that what you're cookin' smells good! We had Cheese Pizza last night!!!"

Teri looked up from Timmy with a grin, and finally noticed the group standing back with Ricky. "Hey munchkin; get over here and give Grandma a hug, then introduce your friends!"

Ricky ran over and jumped into Teri's arms. "You ain't mad 'bout the 'coon are you Gran'ma?"

"No lil' one." Teri replied with a grin. "But if you two start bringing 'gators home I'm gonna have a serious talk with your bird friends!"

"GRAN'MA!!" Ricky giggled. "You're silly!"

Teri set the giggling boy back on his feet. "Okay, who are your friends?"

Ricky grinned. "You see the big kid? That's Timmy's brother Austin! He's an AN'ROID!"

Teri looked over in surprise. Standing nervously with both eagles on his shoulder was a boy of about 13, covered in freckles from head to toe. Most of his shoulder-length hair was chestnut brown; but you could see from the roots out for about a half inch a bright red that was a match to Timmy. The boy's face was covered in scars, with random smaller scars over the rest of his body. The exception was one huge scar, stitches still in place, that extended from just below his neck to his navel. Teri looked up at his face again and looked into his striking gray eyes. She had to consciously keep from cringing when she saw the pain, need, and loss reflected back at her.

Teri slowly walked over and pulled Austin into a gentle hug. "Welcome home kiddo; how are you feeling?"

"Tired, but I guess I'm okay ma'am." Austin replied softly.

Teri knelt down to where she could kiss Austin's forehead. "I'll tell you the same thing I tell the rest of the boys; please don't call me 'Mrs. Short' or 'Ma'am'. You can call me Teri; or if you are comfortable with it you can call me grandma."

Tears welled up in Austin's eyes as he wrapped his arms around Teri. "Really? Why? I'm just an old used up android. I don't even know why Timmy helped me."

Teri kissed the tip of Austin's nose as she gently wiped the tears from his face. "I'll bet Timmy helped you because you are such a special boy. If you were 'just an android' you wouldn't feel like you do right now. You are my grandson now; nobody can change that. I want you to rest up today; once you are up to it we'll sit down and talk about what your life has been like so far."

"How can I be your grandson; I don't even LOOK like family!" Austin said in a depressed tone.

Before Teri could respond, Timmy joined the hug. "Yeah you do bro! You're getting a buncha freckles just like me, an' you got red hair growin' too!"

"You've even got Timmy's eyes." Teri added softly.

Austin looked down at his body. "No way; I just looked in the mirror before I came up. I saw some dark spots, but I thought they were bruises. I never had freckles before! I've got blue eyes; not gray like Timmy's."

Mary walked over with a mirror in her hand. "Look again little one; I think you've got a surprise coming!"

Austin took the mirror and stared at it in awe. "No way! The only way that my eyes can change is programming; my hair and skin is genetically based, my genes would have to be completely changed to do this!" He grew silent for a few seconds. "Holy shit .... oops, sorry ... grandma. My base programming adjusted itself when I started repairs. It changed my eye color to match the DNA code from when the biobed used Timmy's DNA to fix my skin. That's why I'm still so tired; my body is replacing my old DNA with Timmy's! This is so kewl! I'll still have Dad's features, but I'm gonna be Timmy's genetic twin! I'm getting' a new body to go with my new life!!!"

"And to go with your new family, kiddo." Teri added softly. "Why don't you and your little brother go have a seat at the table while Ricky introduces your other friend to us?"

A sparkle came to Austin's eyes as he handed the mirror back then went with Timmy to take a seat. "Thanks Grandma!" he said softly over his shoulder as he moved away.

Ricky grinned as he pulled Joey over to meet the adults. "This is Joey; he's Jerry's kid an' an an'roid too!!"

Mary dropped to her knees and pulled Joey into a hug. "You're so CUTE!! I'm your Grandma, Joey; I'm your Daddy's mommy."

"I's geddim a gwammah doo?" Joey asked.

"Yes you do, little one. You know, you sound just like your Great-Uncle Mike did at your age. Don't worry, one of these days it'll get better."

Joey sleepily giggled and pushed back to look into her eyes. "Is geddim moah unahs am a gwammah?" He said as a wide smile lit up his face. "I gedda see unkah Mieke?"

"Of course you can see Uncle Mike! Just as soon as your daddy gets all caught up with all of the work he's got to do." Mary responded. She then noticed Joey's eyes. "Oh angel; you have your uncle Davie's and your Daddy's eyes - one of each! That's so sweet!"

"No, dey is mie ise gwammah." Joey replied with a giggle.

Mary picked the giggling boy up and carried him over to the table. "Silly little man! I mean they look just like your daddy and uncle Davie's eyes!" She sat him down and kissed his forehead. "You ready for breakfast?"

Joey beamed with the attention from his new Grandmother. "Yup, Is geddim empee im mah dummee." He said with a smile pointing at his stomach.

Mary reached down and gently pinched Joey's stomach, causing more giggles. "I guess we just gotta fix that, don't we?"

"Oday Gwammah!"

As Mary kissed Joey's forehead and stood back up, Tommy came running into the kitchen. "MAW! Y'all's done started cookin' an' ya didn' come an' git me? That there jus' ain' right!" He looked over at the table and saw the boys sitting there. "Timothy! Ricky! Y'all's done been told ya' gotta git sum clothes on before ya' get any grub! Git movin'!"

Teri quickly motioned to the boys. "Stay there guys; I'm making an exception to the rule today." She then turned to Tommy, who skidded to a stop when he saw the look on her face. "Thomas Clyde Short! You are a guest in this house; is that any way to act? I believe you owe everyone in this room an apology; plant your butt in that chair until you can make it sincere."

"Yes Mom." Tommy replied as he hung his head and took a seat, laying his head in his arms on the table.

Joey looked wide-eyed at Tommy. "Dommee, wahd assepim wuwe doday?"

Mary noticed that Tommy was not responding and came over to the table. "I think that all you boys are supposed to be dressed in clothes before you eat. Teri is making an exception; that means that this morning you can eat like you are, but after this you have to be dressed before you can eat. Does that make sense?"

"Uh huh, bahd Dommee dinna no eet doh?"

"No little angel, Tommy didn't know. He got in trouble for the way he talked to you and your friends, not because he didn't know."

"Oh. bahd id oday. I no mahd. Dommee no bee in tubbew no moah gwammah. Pweese." Joey almost whined with his lower lip beginning to quiver.

Mary kissed Joey's cheek as she rubbed his back. "Relax, it'll be okay. Just as soon as Tommy calms down and says he's sorry everything will be alright, I promise."

"Oday Gwammah." Joey replied through a sniffle.

A minute later, Cory, Sean, DJ, Tanner, Toby, Beau, Xain, Jake, JJ, Adam, Harley, 'Roo, Brad, Gavin, Sammy, Sebastian, Kyle, Tyler, Eli, and Benji strolled into the kitchen. As soon as they saw Tommy, they all fell silent. "What's wrong, Mom?" Cory asked.

Tommy spoke up before Teri could answer. "It's okay bro; I kinda let my alligator mouth get ahead of my flea butt. I'm sorry y'all; I shoulda been nicer an' ask'd before sayin' that stuff."

Teri walked up to Tommy and hugged him from behind. "That's better Tommy. Would you like to help Mary and I with breakfast?"

Tommy wrapped his arms over Teri's. "Sure Mom; but I'd like it better if Mary got to spend time with Joey instead of havin' to cook. That way she can get ta' know the guys too."

Teri grinned as she looked over at Mary. "That's my boy; he's kinda possessive of the kitchen! Would you like to spend some time getting to know the rats, Mary?"

Mary smiled back. "That might not be a bad idea; I think I might have made a wrong impression on a few of the boys yesterday. Patriarch Short, could we start over?"

Cory grinned. "Let's just keep it informal, Mrs. Owens. It'd take me all day to list out what all of these guys do - and there's still more taking showers!"

Mary walked over and gave Cory a quick hug. "In that case, just call me Mary. Jon is going to be back shortly; he's picking up lunch supplies. I owe you an apology too; yesterday I made the same mistake as Tommy here made this morning. I really should have listened better before running my mouth."

Cory returned the hug. "Apology accepted Mary. I can see how this all surprised you. Would you mind if I took care of a little business first before I introduce you to the rest of the guys?"

"Go ahead Cory; from what I was told last night I'd like to see you in action."

"Thanks." Cory replied. He turned and straightened his posture before speaking. "Director Short, I require your undivided attention as soon as practical."

Mary glanced around and was awestruck as all of the boys seemed to 'switch gears'; even Joey sat up and paid attention to what was about to happen. Teri quickly made sure Tommy was able to handle the food, then straightened her clothes and approached Cory.

"How may Youth Services be of assistance, Patriarch Short?" Teri asked.

Cory motioned for the silver-haired slim boy hiding in the back of the group to come forward and join him. "Director Short; this is Gavin Urt-lakin, formerly from Rigel VII. He is under Clan Short protection due to violations of the Safe Haven Act. Article 11, Sections 11.1 and 11.2; Article 17, Section 17.1, Subparts A2, A4, B2, and B3; and Article 68 Section 68.1.A are the applicable sections. As stipulated in Article 9 Section 9.1 Subpart A1 and Article 135 Section 135.3 Subpart A4 I am prepared to initiate placement of Gavin with a suitable family. After investigation of his history; I have determined that you would be the logical guardian. Do you accept this determination?"

The color drained from Teri's face as she realized the sections Cory had quoted. "Oh my God!" she whispered. She glanced at Mary and saw the confused look on her face. "Physical abuse and slavery, Mary." Teri turned back to Cory. "Patriarch Short; I recognize your jurisdiction as stipulated in Article 9 and accept immediate placement of Gavin with my family."

Cory gave her a single nod. "That will be acceptable. Kyle; inform Headquarters of the updated status of Gavin and instruct them to transfer his records to Director Short's personal files."

Kyle paused then spoke. "Transfer is complete, status updated. Gavin, will you require your surname be changed to 'Short'?"

Gavin's gaze shifted between Cory, Kyle, and Teri. "Can I? What ..."

Teri walked over and pulled Gavin into a hug. "Yes you may, Son. If you really want to, just ask; you don't have to change it if you don't want to. You're my son either way."

Gavin buried his face in Teri's shoulder as he began sobbing; the years of stress finally seeking relief. "YES!" he choked out.

"Acknowledged." Kyle replied. A few seconds later he announced "Patriarch; Headquarters reports name change and immigration paperwork complete. Vulcan Embassy has been updated. Personal note from Justy: 'Take a break or else you're going swimming the hard way when you get home.' End of report."

Cory nodded. "Very well, Kyle." He then relaxed and joined Teri and Gavin's hug. "Welcome to the family bro!" He was followed by the rest of the boys, one at a time, each personally giving Gavin their congratulations and support.

As soon as they were done, Teri gave Gavin a quick extra squeeze. "Do you want to help your brother Tommy and I pass out breakfast to the rest of the guys?"

Gavin responded with a small smile. "This is for real, isn't it?"

Teri nodded. "Yes son; it's for real. I can't wait to hear about your rescue though; this crew seems to come up with something new each time!"

Gavin giggled. "It was nothing really; Timmy ran me over coming out of a lift! I've learned not to get between him and a park, thats for sure!"

Teri laughed as she took the first plate from Tommy. "Good idea; he's a little rocket at times!"

As Teri and Gavin worked, Mary asked Cory "Ummm, Cory, what just happened here?"

Cory smiled. "I just placed Gavin with Mom. We handled his immigration paperwork, changed his name, and filed all the required paperwork with the Vulcan Embassy from Headquarters."

Mary gave Cory a confused look. "I saw that; what was that Act you quoted. How did you handle the paperwork; did you call before you came into the kitchen?"

Cory motioned for Mary to take a seat then sat down himself. "I'll answer the last question first. Kyle is one of the Clan's telepaths; he was relaying everything that was happening to the twins, Jamie and Jacob, at Headquarters. As the twins got their information, they relayed it to their big brother Justy and he made the required entries in our system. Does that make sense now?"

Mary thought for a second. "I guess, but don't you have to have a supervisor review it before it becomes legal? What about CPS?"

Cory grinned. "CPS can't say a thing; I can override them with a nod of my head. When you meet Kelly sometime, ask him what happened when the FBI tried to tangle with him! As far as a supervisor goes, Justy answers directly to me. I do answer to Ambassador Sarek, but mundane daily business like this does not concern him; I only require his review if I sentence an offender to death or if I require legal action on a planetary or higher scale. I don't know if Mom told you, but we just got back from an interplanetary conference on youth protection; a conference where I represented the family of Sarek directly and the planet Vulcan indirectly. The Federation acknowledged my status by also requesting me to represent Youth Services. My only instructions from Sarek were to be there; it would be illogical to have even sent me if I had required instructions on how to proceed."

"Oookayyy ..." Mary responded. "How does Jerry fit into all of this?"

"Did you know that Jerry is a genius?" Cory replied.

"Excuse me?" Mary almost choked out.

"His IQ is in the upper three percent of the population. His potential is still basically untapped, yet he is able to do things that only our android members can comprehend. Kyle scanned him as soon as he met him; it's standard procedure for potential Clan members. Jerry will waste his potential if he continues in the local educational system; he needs instruction specialized for his unique talents. We'll provide that instruction, but at the same time Jerry will be allowed to put his skills to use. Antonio and Marc will make sure he gets advanced training in biological and biomechanical medical procedures. He has already earned his Doctorate; his final thesis is your grandson."

Mary silently looked over at Teri in shock.

Teri had been listening and smiled. "Congratulations Mary! You can believe it; I know the Vulcan who trained Kyle. If Kyle says he found something in a scan you can count on it just as much as a Vulcan mind meld; legally it is exactly the same thing."

Mary nodded. "I knew he was smart, but it's still a shock."

Just then, Jerry came wandering through half awake and still nude. He was halfway through the kitchen when he realized who was sitting at the table. "Umm ... hi Mom! I was just ... uhhh ... heading to the bathroom. I gotta pee!"

Mary giggled. "I see you're fitting in with your new friends! Go on already, get your shower too!"

Jerry blushed and turned to run in the bathroom. Just as he was leaving, Tyler yelled behind him. "Cute butt Jerry!!"

"I'm gonna kill you Ty!" Jerry screamed as he ran into the bathroom and slammed the door behind him.

Cory giggled. "Watch it lil' bro; you don't wanna make Kyle jealous! Mary, you were asking about the Safe Haven Act?"

Mary glanced curiously at Tyler then replied. "Yes; what is that all about?"

Cory leaned back. "The Safe Haven Act was enacted by the Federation as a way to protect youths who slip through the cracks at the local level. Basically, it empowers Youth Services, thats what Mom runs, to step in and take youths under the protection of the Federation if they are in danger. Clan Short is separate from that; we are tasked by the Vulcan Council to protect all youth of all Federation races. I actually have a lot more authority than Mom in some situations, and can override her if I think it's needed. I'm allowed to use the Safe Haven Act, but I'm not tied down to it if Vulcan laws are more applicable. In Gavin's case, I took him under Clan protection but processed him with the Act. The articles I used were Article 11, that covers physical abuse. Section 11.1 reads 'signs of beating, strangulation, or physical restraints' and 11.2 covers threats of anything listed in 11.1. Article 17 is 'Other Abuse', Section 17.1 is 'employment abuse'. Subpart A reads 'Slavery: Slavery as defined under the Act is requiring children to perform tasks unpaid which by local or Federation ordinance (whichever is more stringent) require compensation in the local currency under normal circumstances'. A2 is 'labor with guardian or others receiving compensation for child's work', and A4 is 'physical or mental abuse threats or actions if child does not perform labor'. Subpart B is 'Unreasonable Employment'; B2 is 'requiring child to work excessive hours as determined by customary Federation guidelines', and B3 is 'failure to compensate child with customary rate of pay for services performed'. Article 68 is 'Substantiation of physical abuse or threat thereof'. Section 68.1 is 'Visible signs of abuse witnessed by a Starfleet Officer'. While that does apply, I invoked subpart 'A'; 'Clan Short will suffice per amended act Article 200'. Basically Article 200 acknowledges Clan Short's jurisdiction and states that we answer to Vulcan laws instead of Federation laws. I placed Gavin with Mom using Article 9 Section 9.1 Subpart A2 and Article 135 section 135.3 Subpart A4. Article 9 is 'Jurisdiction'. Section 9.1 states 'The Act supersedes all local, planetary, and interplanetary laws and regulations. Subpart A1 states ' Per Article 200 Clan Short has the same responsibility and authority to make said determination'. Article 135 is 'Placement'. Section 135.3 covers 'Planetary, Non, and Off Planetary Placements'. Subpart A states 'While same planetary placements are preferred they are not a requirement of "The Act" they are only done when they serve the best interests of said minor children. In case where suitable same planet placement is impossible or undesirable Off or Non Planetary placement may be required'. Subpart A4 lists one option as 'Any suitable family on any planet qualifying under Section 2 and Section 134'. Does that make sense now?"

"How do you remember all of that!" Mary exclaimed in shock.

"Xain and our telepaths have figured out a way to 'teach' us telepathically. We all have multiple languages and the entire act placed in our heads for fast reference. Kyle told me that Jerry knows some basic Vulcan; once things calm down some he'll be able to hold a conversation with Spock and never have to switch from Vulcan. It's actually pretty awesome; we can discuss business in public using Eagle and everyone thinks we are just kids messing around."

Mary shook her head in wonder. "This is definitely going to take some getting used to! What happened to the monster who was hurting Gavin?"

"We turned him over to the local authorities; Rigel VII has very strict laws against embezzlement and slavery. He broke those laws among others, and I'm confident in the local authorities making sure he pays for his mistakes."

Teri came over and interrupted them by setting their plates in front of them. "Mary, you've got him going now! Stop while you're ahead; that boy will talk your head off about his group of savages!"

"MOM!!" Cory exclaimed. "I ain't THAT bad!!! You're mean!"

Teri leaned over and kissed his forehead. "I hate to tell you this, angel, but sometimes you can be. Remember what I told you; you don't have to be all business. You guys are having a cookout for lunch today; if I catch you working I'll personally toss you in the nearest body of water!"

Cory started to argue, then saw the caring smile accompanying Teri's gaze. "Okay mom, you win; I'll try not to work."

Teri ruffled Cory's hair. "You'll do better than try mister; you're setting a bad example for your brothers and sons. They need to know it's okay to take a play break. It's family time kiddo, take a break and enjoy it."

"Yeah Cory, take a break!" Sean jeered from the other side of the table.

"You're no better Sean; and you're under the same restrictions!" Teri replied. "JJ, Adam, Kyle, Ty; you four are covered by it too. Any arguments and I'll call Sarek, understood?"

"Yes Mom." all five boys chorused meekly.

Mary grinned at the antics of the boys. "I think your mom is right, Cory. That's enough talk about work; what do you guys do when you're not saving the universe?"

Cory giggled. "Actually, most of us like swimming and soccer ...."

Forty-five Minutes later:

Cory carefully tucked a blanket around Austin and Joey as they got comfortable on one end of the couch. "Relax guys; you got a lot of catching up to do." Just as he finished, Timmy and Ricky hopped onto Austin's lap. "Whatcha' doin', Gizmo?" Cory giggled.

Timmy smiled up at his dad. "We gotta make sure Austie an' Joey are okay! If they need sumptin' we're gonna get it for 'em."

"Okay munchkin, but if your bro and cousin fall asleep let them rest, okay?" Cory replied with evident pride.

"Okay Daddy!" Timmy replied.

Cory turned and headed out to where Sean and Gavin were waiting for him on the beach. Just as he reached them, Caleb and Danny came running up to join the group. "Cor??" Caleb asked as he caught his breath.

"Yeah bro, whazzup?" Cory asked.

"Noah and I was ... well, Marc and Danny are so kewl, and we ..." It was obvious by the look on Caleb's face that he had planned what he was going to say but it was now falling apart.

Cory put a hand on Caleb's shoulder and lightly squeezed. "Relax bro; you're talking to me, not one of the parents!"

Caleb shook his head. "You ARE our parents! You and Sean are like Dads to all of us; even the guys at Camp Little Eagle think so! I've heard Dad talkin' with the other parents; they think you guys are one of them!"

Cory's jaw dropped in shock. He glanced over at Sean and saw the same surprised look. A few seconds later, Cory managed to reply. "Oh my God! Why?"

Gavin joined the conversation. "I think I know, Cory. First thing is, last I heard, 'Patriarch' means 'senior father'. Also, it seems like any time someone has a question they can come to you or Sean for an answer; the same thing goes for if they need support. You two understand the rest of us better than most parents, and are willing to help if you can. I heard your.. I mean OUR little brother Tyler telling 'Roo and Brad that if they ever needed help to talk to you two. You guys watch out for everyone even when we are just playing around; I noticed that when we were playing soccer back on Rigel VII. I don't think you even do it consciously; it's just habit."

Both Cory and Sean glanced back and forth between Caleb, Danny and Gavin. "Dude!" Sean exclaimed. "Y'all's our friends and brothers; we don't do anything different than the rest of you!"

"No Sean," Caleb replied with exasperation, "we all try to do the same stuff we see y'all doing. Even JJ and Kyle; and they've been with y'all longer than any of us! Y'all love each other, and you show us you love us too. You showed us it didn't matter if we were straight or gay when you rescued Clint and Crystal. We've learned to cry with you, we've learned to laugh with you, and for the first time in a lot of our lives we know what love is. You have taught us to tear down the walls in our heads and stand up for ourselves and others. Most of all, you not only gave some of us families; but you taught all of us how to BE a family. Everyone knows the story of how y'all rescued Timmy, even the guys at the Camp. You are our role models, for once the old folks are right about something when they say that. Even when y'all goof up we learn with you; and we tell the new guys about it so they'll learn the lessons that we learned from you. By being yourselves y'all's changed all of us; that's why."

Sean shook his head. "Caleb, you didn't need to learn long speeches from Cory though!"

"Bite me Sean!" Cory giggled as he lightly slapped Sean's head then pulled him into a cuddle. "I guess I see your point, Caleb. Do me a favor; pass the word around that we know how everyone feels, but would really like it better if everyone just talked to us as friends. That includes the guys at Camp too. All of this wouldn't have happened if all of us had not tried to be friends; I don't wanna wake up one day and find out everyone's so in awe of us that they are afraid to be our friends. If I see that happening I'm gonna quit and take my family and what friends I have left to some quiet corner of the universe to live out the rest of our lives. It does not matter how many people we help if we lose our family and friends because of it."

Danny giggled. "That's what he was saying Cor! Trust me; I spent my time as an adult wayyyy back in the Stone Age! You just stated something most adults don't realize until it's too late. You ain't gotta change; you guys are actually doing great."

Cory blushed. "Whatever Gramps!" he giggled. "Now what were you asking before you started lecturing me Caleb?"

Caleb giggled. "Okay, what do you think about us staying behind and helping get set up here?"

Cory glanced at Danny. "What do you think?"

"I dunno; I'm going senile!" Danny giggled. "Seriously, we could use the help; but it's up to you."

Cory shook his head. "No, it's up to Matt. I like the idea, but you guys gotta sell him on it. Good luck; if he wants he can catch me later to talk it over."

Caleb grabbed Danny's hand. "Kewl, thanks Cor; I know Dads gonna wanna know if we asked ya! C'mon Danny; you're cute butt is comin' with me to ask him!"

As Caleb dragged Danny off, Danny yelled over his shoulder "Talk to you guys later!!!!"

"Later guys!" Sean yelled at the quickly disappearing pair. He gave Cory's arms a quick squeeze and added in a normal voice "Let's take a walk guys; this is getting too weird."

Later that morning:

Cory glanced around at the group he called family spread along the beach. Sean had fallen asleep on his shoulder a short time back while they sat and relaxed after a pickup game of beach volleyball. A little further down the beach, Gavin, Tommy, and Ty were quietly getting to know each other better; JJ, Adam, and their family were deep into building a mini-racetrack in the sand to race remote controlled cars on. The rest of the boys that were outside were enjoying the surf, carefree giggles bouncing through the air.

The telltale glow of transporter beams caught Cory's attention. He watched as Aaron, Alec, CD, and Calen beamed in, a pile of equipment behind them.

"Hey bro! What's the deal, can't you go anywhere without your toys?" Cory yelled with a giggle.

Aaron waved. "I see you're working hard!" he chuckled as he came over with the new arrivals. "Alec, CD and I decided that we might as well have some fun while we are here."

Cory giggled. "I can tell! CD, Calen; you guys wanna meet your new big bro? He's over with Tommy and Ty ..."

"KEWL" both boys yelled as they turned and ran towards the indicated group, not taking time to listen to whatever else Cory had to say.

Alec grinned at Cory. "Good job, bro; you ran off our help! Wake up sleeping beauty and give us a hand; we gotta set stuff up. Can we get decent power out here?"

"DUH!" Cory giggled as he pointed to the shuttle behind him. "We got all the power you need dufus!"

Alec grinned as he turned to head over to the equipment pile. "C'mon you lazy bums! We can't have a party without music!"

Sean groaned from his spot on Cory's shoulder. "Dude, chill. This is too comfortable; I'm not getting up yet!"

Alec turned to reply, and took a real good look at the two boys relaxing in front of him. "Yeah; you do kinda look like you need a break. You guys sit this one out; I'll get some of the other guys to help set up."

Sean shifted around so he could watch along with Cory as Alec, Aaron, DJ, and Tanner began setting up the equipment that they had brought over. About twenty minutes later, Cory and Sean were surprised by an adult voice behind them.

"It's GOOD to be King!" the voice announced in a decent Mel Brooks impression.

Cory turned his head as him and Sean broke into a fit of giggles. It took a second, but then he recognized the person behind them. "Hey Jon; I was wondering where you were! Mel Brooks; 'History of the World Part One', right?"

Jon nodded. "I see you appreciate classic movies! I've just been busy cleaning out every grocery store within twenty miles trying to keep up with your group's appetite!"

Cory giggled more. "C'mon, we ain't THAT bad!"

"Why did I have to rent a semi truck then to bring the food for lunch then?" Jon chuckled. "Do you always watch the other guys do all of the work?"

Cory shook his head. "Naw, today they're giving us a break; usually we're right in there with them. Did you really have to rent a semi truck?"

Jon laughed and ruffled Cory's hair. "No, but I did fill the back of a pickup truck. Did you guys find the Battery okay?"

Sean smiled. "Yeah, thanks for the directions. That place is pretty awesome; we even made a couple of friends while we were there. You'll get to meet them; they are coming over for lunch."

"Do you need any help with the food?" Cory added. "We'll give you a hand."

"Only if you promise not to eat it all before it's cooked!" Jon replied with a grin. "Actually, I could use some help getting things set up over at the house; Mary is a work-from-home caterer so we have the facilities over there to store the food until it is time to cook it."

Cory smiled. "Just a sec, Jon; let me get your help; my lil bro is a chef and will get pissed if he don't help cook." Cory turned and whistled. "Hey Airhead!!! Get your funky butt over here bro!"

Aaron began to flip Cory off before he noticed Jon standing there. He changed his mind, got up from setting up his drum set, and jogged over to the group. "Yo, scatterbrain, whazzup?"

Cory shifted Sean off of his shoulder and stood up. "Jon, this is my big brother Aaron. Aaron; this is Jerry's dad Jon. Do me a favor Bro; get Tommy and Ty and have them meet us over at Jon's place, then find Mom and have her join us too."

"It's a pleasure to meet you Jon." Aaron said as he shook Jon's hand. "Don't pay too much attention to Heckle and Jeckle here; they're not all here mentally!"

Jon chuckled. "I'm glad to see that they are not always as serious as they were yesterday! You have a couple of really special brothers here."

Aaron smiled as he pulled Cory and Sean into a snuggle. "If you only knew Jon, they are my life."

Cory blushed ten different shades of red. "Awww mannn. Please do that stuff for me bro; before I spontaneously combust!"

Aaron giggled. "Sure, lil bro. Jon, I'll catch up with you later; I have some stories I can tell you about these two that I'm sure Mom hasn't mentioned."

Cory and Sean both groaned at Aaron's announcement. Aaron rounded up Tommy and Tyler, then headed into the house.

Twenty minutes later, the boys were busy helping Jon set up the grills. At first Jon was skeptical about Tommy and Tyler helping; but after assurances from Teri that not only were they responsible when cooking, they actually took more care with food than most adults Jon relaxed.

Just then the sounds of the beach were barely overshadowed by the beat of drums.

"What in the world ...?" Jon exclaimed.

Aaron started to reply, and smiled as the beat repeated, this time louder. "Sounds like a sound check to me! I wonder who's on the second set of drums?"

Cory shrugged his shoulders. "No idea bro."

They continued to prep the grills. After a few minutes, they heard a young voice:

"Buddy you're a boy... Bring my level up. Buddy you're a boy... Whoah, need bass. Buddy you're a boy, sounds good. Buddy your a boy..."

Drums kicked in, and the voice started again:

"Buddy you're a boy make a big noise,

Playin in the street gonna be a big man some day.

You got mud on your face,

You big disgrace,

Kickin your can all over the place."

Cory immediately recognized the next two voices that chimed in - it was Timmy and Ricky!

"We will we will rock you,

We will we will rock you."

"Buddy you're a young man, hard man,

Shoutin in the street gonna take on the world some day.

You got blood on your face,

You big disgrace.

Wavin your banner all over the place."

The sounds of clapping became apparent as the song progressed.

"We will we will rock you,

We will we will rock you."

"Tanner and DJ, are clowns,

Didn't say a word, just threw on the damn PA.

Got a smirk on their face,

A big disgrace.

We're all gonna put you both into your place."

It was obvious that Timmy and Ricky were giggling as they sung the next verse:

"He will, he will, beat you!

You Better run!

He will he will beat you!"

The music came to a sudden halt; from the sounds that were coming over the PA it was certain that Tanner and DJ were about to get their reward.

Jon managed to stop laughing long enough to comment. "It's gonna take a few minutes until the coals are ready to cook on; why don't we go survey the damage?"

Just then, Danny's voice came over the speakers, obviously trying to be funny: "Thank you! We'll be here all night. Try the veal."

Cory stifled his giggles long enough to agree. "Yeah, let's go! I gotta see this!"

Aaron chuckled as he knelt down. "Hey Ty, free shoulder ride if you want it!"

Ty quickly tossed his apron on the nearest table. "AWESOME!!!!"

Jon laughed. "Hey Tommy, you want a ride too? I can't have my head cook getting worn out!"

Tommy smiled. "Sure! I ain't got ta ride like dat in forever!"

"Well, you're way overdue then kiddo! Hop on!"

Cory smiled as he put an arm around Sean's waist and pulled him in for a quick kiss. He suddenly realized Jon was still there, and blushed fiercely as he turned toward him. "Sorry Jon; it kinda feels like a family gathering today, and Sean and I don't usually have to control ourselves at family gatherings. I kinda forgot you was here."

Jon chuckled as Tommy climbed aboard for his ride, then walked over to Cory and pulled him into a half hug. "It is a family gathering." he said, rubbing Cory's shoulder as they started toward the beach. "How am I supposed to get to know my new family, if they don't think they can be themselves around me?" Jon asked; looking down with a warm, fatherly smile.

Cory smiled as he looked up to thank Jon. When he saw the look on Jon's face, Cory's face melted and he began sobbing as he leaned into Jon and wrapped his arms around him.

"Tommy, can I owe you a ride?" Jon asked as he knelt down and pulled Cory into a tighter hug.

Tommy scrambled off of Jon's shoulders. "Yeah. What's wrong?"

Before anyone had a chance to answer, Kyle came flying in at full speed. "Memory ... returned ... dad." Kyle panted.

"Oh SHIT!" Sean moaned. "Our dads died in a car fire when I was like one or so."

Tyler scrambled off of Aaron's shoulders. "Get Mom bro; this is a bad one!"

Jon looked at Kyle then at Sean. "He lost that memory?"

Sean looked at Jon with a sad expression. "Cory lost all of his memory except for my name when Mikey died. The doctors said it was something called traumatic stress syndrome. He still gets them back, but we thought all the hard ones were done." Sean wrapped himself around Cory from the back. "Hold it together babe; you're gonna be okay."

"He's stuck at two years old in his head!" Kyle moaned. "This is his worst one yet. What the .... DANG IT! He's blocking me and Ty!"

"Cory?" Jon said softly, nodding at Kyle as he sat back in the sand; pulling Cory into his lap, and tucking Sean under his right arm to keep him close. "Let it out little guy, I'm right here for you, let it all out." Jon repeated softly as he rocked back and forth.

Sean leaned into John's shoulder and began sobbing along with Cory. Kyle and Ty sat nearby, waiting to see if there was any way to help.

Jon hugged Sean in close and rested his chin on Cory's head as he continued rocking and whispering; "It's ok Cory, Sean and I are right here. It's gonna be ok. Just let it all out."

After a minute of rocking, Cory looked up at Jon; tears still slowly streaming from his eyes. "It hurts! Why does it hurt so bad?"

"Well son..." Jon began as he tucked Cory's head back into his chest. "I never knew your Dad, but it must have taken a very special person to bring someone like you into this world. It hurts me to have never met him." Jon said, feeling Cory sharply inhale and sob into his shirt. "The hurt never leaves Cory, it changes. It never let's us forget." he said as he redirected Cory's gaze upward. "Because forgetting would be even more painful."

"It hurts me too bro." Sean sobbed. "I hurt double bad; I hurt for my dad and I hurt because I can't help you with your hurt."

Jon gave them both a squeeze. "I bet you help each other just by being there. Both of you are very special."

Cory sobbed again, then spoke softly as he reached down and took Sean's hand into his own. "When we were at the funeral for both of our dads, Mikey took us into a little room and held us while we were crying. When we stopped crying, he made us promise that we would watch and take care of each other forever. He told us it would not hurt if we took care of each other ..." Cory drifted off, squeezing Sean's hand for support.

Jon smiled and squeezed both boys before sighing. "Mikey must have been a saint all along then." He said as he turned and saw Jerry and Eli on the back deck of Marc's house hitting each other with the parts Jerry had created, completely oblivious to what was going on out at the beach. "Cory, look." Jon said as he pointed to the deck. "Your promise to each other did quite a few amazing things. That boy up there was a very withdrawn and depressed little man after he lost his brother. Nothing I could do or say could ever bring back the happy son I once knew. But because of the promise you made to each other, you were strong enough to bring this family together." He continued with another squeeze. "That family gave me back the son I lost, and the son I almost lost. It hurts when you lose someone you love. It can't be avoided sometimes. Just never forget them, and think of them when you hold the ones who are close, cause that makes them a living part of the love in your life."

Cory squeezed Jon with his free arm. "Jerry and Davie are lucky. You're like our dads were; I wish you could be our Dad too."

Teri came running up just as Cory finished his reply. Jon looked up at her with a tear in his eye and gave her a small smile.

"How is he?" Teri asked in a worried tone.

"He's hurting." Jon replied. "But we're all hurting with him 'til it doesn't hurt so much." he continued as he rested his chin back on Cory's head. "I'm not your Dad, I could never fill those shoes. But for this family, I'll always be a Dad for you guys if you ever have need for one."

"I love you Dad." Cory muttered as he snuggled in tight to Jon.

"Thanks, Daddy." Sean added as he snuggled into the other side.

Jon sniffled, obviously fighting back tears. "I love you guys too." he answered, rocking both boys. "Teri, I think our sons will be just fine."

Teri gave the group a small smile. "Thanks for being here for them Jon."

Mary joined Teri. "What's wrong Teri?"

Teri turned towards Mary, and glimpsed a mad rush of boys heading their way. "Cory needed some support; support that it looks like Jon was best equipped to give. Wait until the mob gets here; I'm sure we'll all get the details then."

Teri watched with pride as the group wordlessly rushed over to Cory , Sean, and Jon; surrounding them in a protective shield. Two loud "screeches" came from the direction of the house, as William and Duke came flying out. Directly behind them; Eli had levitated most of the occupants of the house, and was making the best speed possible considering the group he was carrying in midair. Noah and Jerry were directly behind Eli, obviously trying hard to keep up. As they approached the rest of the group, a split appeared in the human shield, allowing them a direct path to the three within.

As soon as Timmy hit the split, he exclaimed "Daddy!" As soon as Jerry realized his dad was in the center, he wormed his way in with Timmy.

"Dad? Whats wrong?"

Jon was still so emotionally strung out he couldn't respond. Sean noticed this and responded instead. "J ... Dad had to help Cory. Cory just had the memory come back about when his birth dad was killed, and it messed him up pretty bad. Dad helped him deal with it."

"Is he ok?" Jerry asked as he crouched down and put his hand on Cory's shoulder.

Cory leaned his head over so that it was laying on Jerry's hand. "Yeah, lil' bro; I'm okay now. I'm just recovering; stuff like this hurts a lot." Cory replied softly.

"I'll help if I ca.." Jerry managed to get out before looking into his father's eyes. "Dad are you crying? What can I do?"

"Just be there for your brothers." Jon got out with a smile.

"My brothers?" Jerry asked looking at Sean and tilting his head in question.

"As long as you don't mind sharing a Dad." Jon added watching Jerry's jaw drop.

"Are you kidding?" Jerry asked and looked back at Sean. "Is he kidding? I'd share anything with you guys." Jerry answered tightening his grip on Cory's shoulder. "Especially if it means we get to be family. Then we can always be there for each other. No, I don't mind Dad... Really!"

Jerry felt a small arm wrap around his waist. "Dahdee, edat gwampee?" Joey asked.

Jerry grinned. "Yeah. Dad, meet your grandson, Joey."

Jon shook his head in wonder. "Now THAT is going to take some getting used to! Come here little one, I think there's still some space here somewhere between your uncles and your Dad."

"Cowee ahn Sahn isa moah Unkas? I gedda wotta unkas nahw!" Joey exclaimed as he wiggled his way onto Jon's lap.

Mary pulled Teri off to the side as the sound of occasional giggles from the pile assured them the crisis was over. "Why is it I get the feeling I just gained a few dozen new kids in my family? Also, how did they manage to bring Jerry out of his depression in only a day?"

Teri smiled. "Welcome to my world, Mary. You have just seen what us adults call the 'Clan Magic'; something about this combination of boys somehow manages to help kids just by being with them. One little warning though; don't take those two boys calling Jon 'dad' lightly. I tried to teach them to be open with their emotions; unfortunately the lesson did not totally sink in until after my son Mike was killed. They have taken it to heart now though, and they were totally sincere just now."

Mary gave Teri a small smile. "If I had not seen it for myself I wouldn't have believed it. Jon and I used to sit up late at night worrying about Jerry since Davie died; Jerry refused to try to make friends and totally absorbed himself into cybernetics. That's part of the reason we agreed to leave him here with Marc and Danny; when they came over and invited him to come out on the beach it was the first time he'd really smiled in a long time."

They turned and headed towards the house, comparing notes about the antics of their now-common sons. As they disappeared inside, the group of boys started to break up.

Jon found himself being guided down to the beach by his sons. Aaron, Alec, and Danny were bringing up the rear of the group.

"Hey Alec; that sounded pretty awesome; who was on the other drumset though?" Aaron commented.

Alec giggled. "It was the missing Bonham brother; Danny!"

Danny tilted his head and looked at Alec with a grin. "The missing Bone Head Brother?"

Alec giggled as he slapped the back of Danny's head. "In your case 'bonehead' fits too, but I meant John Bonham; you know, the drummer for Led Zeppelin?"

"Led Zeppelin? Is that a band or something?" Danny got out, causing Alec and Aaron to freeze in mid step.

"You can play Queen like you've done it all your life, but you've never heard of 'Zep'? DUUUUDDDEEEE!" Aaron responded in shock.

"I just followed Alec's lead." Danny said with a smile. "Never heard that song before either." he added with a giggle.

Kyle had dropped back and heard the end of the conversation. "Hold it guys! Danny, you mind if I fill Airhead and Alec in on what you've been up to the last few years? It'd be faster than you telling them."

"It would?" Danny asked with a grin. "Go ahead, this I gotta hear."

A few seconds later, Aaron and Alec exclaimed in unison "You WHAT!!" Aaron added "Danny, please don't ever try to kill yourself ever again; you might not know it but Cory and Sean really do consider you their brother. If you tried that now, you'd kill both of them. Were you really laying by the Titanic for THAT long?"

Danny's jaw dropped open as his gaze shot toward Kyle. "How did you... Um what did you do?"

Danny suddenly heard Kyle's voice in his head. 'I did this! I'm a telepath, both ways! You better hurry up and integrate Marc's memories before I do it for you! By the way; Aaron is the one who is teaching Alec how to play. You gotta ask him the rest of his history yourself.'

'You can hear what I think?' Danny purposely thought to himself with a confused smile creeping across his face.

Kyle decided to answer out loud. "Yeah; I like listening to how you think! You're a lot more interesting than listening to the air going in one of Aaron's ears and out the other!"

Danny laughed out loud. "That's cold bro."

Aaron lunged for Kyle and grabbed him around the waist. "Speaking of cold, I think it's time you tested the water you little brain leech!" he announced with a giggle.

As Aaron carried a squirming Kyle to be tossed in the water, Alec put an arm over Danny's shoulder. "C'mon bro; let's go grab a seat. Aaron will join us once the munchkin is all wet; I think we should all three talk and fill you in on a few things."

"Sounds cool. Maybe you can fill me in on a few more bands to listen to for the next time you guys come up." Danny replied, cringing as he watched Aaron heave Kyle into the Bay. "I hope you guys all brought dry clothes."

"Clothes? We don' need no stinkin' clothes!" Alec giggled as they headed towards the nearest shuttle.

Jon had a huge smile on his face. Joey was riding on his shoulders, while Cory, Sean, and Jerry were taking turns pulling on his arms to hurry him up. They finally reached the chairs the boys had set up on the beach for whoever wanted to relax and listen to the music. Once he was seated comfortably with Joey cuddled on his lap, Cory proudly began.

"Dad, I know you haven't had a chance to meet a lot of these guys." Cory turned to the group gathered around him. "Marc and Austin, you guys go ahead and stay seated. Everyone else, line up by family!"

Jon was awestruck as the introductions proceeded. Being told the boys thought of themselves as one big family and actually seeing it were two different things. Just as the boys were finishing, Tommy's communicator sounded.

"This is Tommy."

"Tommy, this is Mom. Tell Jon and the rest of the boys that Mary and I will handle getting the first round of food ready. I think your brother needs you there right now, not up here."

"Okay Mom. I think ya' might be right. Thanks!"

Tommy closed his communicator, then turned back to Cory and Sean. "Bros; Maw's gonna do the fixin's for now, but when Ty an' me takes over y'alls gonna park it down here an' do some relaxin'. You too Jon; you gotta be spendin' kin time, not cookin'."

Xain and Jake walked over and joined Tommy. As Jake put an arm over Tommy's shoulder, Xain spoke. "While Thomas' phraseology might have been less than the normal diplomatic standard expected of a Clan member; the underlying logic of his statement is accurate. Jake and Myself will assist with the preparation of sustenance for the assembled Clan family. It would be illogical to have excess personnel present. Mr. Owens, it would be most logical for yourself to appropriate the maximum time possible to familiarize yourself with your extended family unit. I believe your human emotional processes require it for proper bonding."

Cory looked at the three boys, then turned back to Jon. "See what I gotta put up with Dad? Mutiny!" Cory giggled, then continued in a more serious tone. "Is that okay with you? It would be sweet to be able to spend some time down here with you."

Jon chuckled as Cory gave him obviously well-practiced 'puppy-dog-eyes'. "If you're sure they can cook, then I'm just fine with it kiddo."

"Between Tommy and Xain, they could make a piece of toast into the best thing you ever ate!" Sean interjected as Cory went over to give Jon a one-armed hug.

As Jon reached an arm out to return the hug, he marveled at the difference in Cory. Instead of the efficient young adult he had met yesterday, Cory was now a vulnerable young teen who seemed to be longing for an adult role model. 'I just hope I am up to providing what these boys need.' Jon thought to himself.

Sean interrupted them. "I gotta go up on stage; Jake remembered a song he used to hear as a kid, and Kyle just finished making sure everyone knew their parts so we can try to sing it." He leaned over and kissed Cory's cheek then added "but first I have a song just for you, babe."

Cory pulled up a chair between Jon and Austin, then watched as some of the boys separated and went over to the area marked off as a 'stage'. Alec sat at his drum kit, Sammy picked up his guitar, and Sean adjusted the mic to his height as he took a seat on the stool in front of it. To Cory's shock, Aaron sat down at a set of keyboards off to the side, 'Bastian picked up CD's bass, and CD retrieved a sax from behind Alec.

Aaron tapped on his mic. "Don't be too hard on me guys; Kev has been trying to teach me these things, so I'm gonna give it a shot!"

"This is for Cory." Sean stated as he signaled for Aaron to start.

As CD finished out the song with a sax solo, Cory wiped the tears from his eyes. Jon squeezed Cory's hand. "He really does love you, son. I could see it in the way he was singing."

They were distracted by Aaron. "Hey Danny! Get your skinny butt over here bro! Kyle gave you the notes, you ain't getting out of it!"

"Watch it Aaron; I'm gonna make YOU swim!" Danny giggled as he ran to the area of beach designated as a stage. As he was getting seated, CD retrieved his bass and handed 'Bastian an acoustic guitar. Once everyone was set, CD nodded to Alec and Danny. The three of them hit the first notes right on cue; once the twins kicked in with their guitars Sean grabbed the mic off of its stand and started wandering the stage.

Why are you in so much hurry?

Is it really worth the worry?

Look around, then slow down.

What's it like inside the bubble?

Does your head ever give you trouble?

It's no sin, trade it in.

The rest of the boys on stage kicked in for the chorus.

Hang on, help is on its way,

I'll be there as fast as I can,

"Hang on", a tiny voice did say,

From somewhere deep inside the inner man.

Are you always in confusion?

Surrounded by illusion?

Sort it out, you'll make out.

Seem to make a good beginning,

Someone else ends up winning,

Don't seem fair, don't you care?

Hang on, help is on its way,

I'll be there as fast as I can,

"Hang on", a tiny voice did say,

From somewhere deep inside the inner man.

Don't you forget who'll take care of you,

It don't matter what you do,

Form a duet, let him sing melody, you'll provide the harmony.

Cory ran up onto the makeshift stage and joined Sean;

Why are you in so much hurry?

Is it really worth the worry?

Look around, then slow down.

What's it like inside the bubble?

Does your head ever give you trouble?

It's no sin, trade it in.

Hang on, help is on its way,

I'll be there as fast as I can,

"Hang on", a tiny voice did say,

From somewhere deep inside the inner man.

Hang on, help is on its way,

I'll be there as fast as I can,

"Hang on", a tiny voice did say,

From somewhere deep inside the inner man.

Help is on it's way

Help is on it's way

Cory was all smiles as he looked over his shoulder. "Danny!! Try to keep up bro! 'Bas, grab the Gibson; I wanna rattle some windows! Aaron, get up here and back us up bro! "It's My Life" and "We're Not Gonna Take It"; Alec count it off when everyone's ready."

The boys had just finished the second song when a police cruiser came carefully down the beach and stopped on the other side of the shuttle. Cory and Sean ran over to meet it, and got there just in time to hear Jon address the driver.

"Can I help you Officer?" Jon asked.

"Yes Sir; we've been getting complaints from your neighbors. It seems they are having trouble hearing the music and want the sound turned up."

Jon stared at the officer in shock, until the giggles from behind him made him realize he'd been had. Cory stepped up to the car. "Hey Will; glad you could make it! Will, this is my Dad, Jon Owens. Dad, this is Corporal Will Jackson. C'mon, y'all come on out of the car so I can introduce everyone!"

Once everyone was out of the car, Cory finished the introductions. "Dad, this is Judge Donald Legette, his wife Margret, and their son JR."

Jon smiled as he shook Donald's hand. "It's an honor to meet yourself and your family, Judge."

"Just call me Donald. Considering how the boys are dressed, I see no reason to be formal. You've got a pair of exceptional boys here."

Jon smiled. "I'm just learning that myself; they 'adopted' me as their 'dad' just a little bit ago. Let's go find a seat and we can compare notes while the boys show JR around."

Cory tilted his head and asked "Will? How did you get in here? Security didn't call me."

Will chuckled. "One of your security men, I think he said his name was Matt, actually did complain about not hearing the music playing. He said to tell you 'that's what you get for holding a concert without him'."

Cory grinned. "I'm gonna get him for that! Danny's gotta set up a security team yet, so my guys are spread kinda thin. We're gonna go introduce JR to the guys Dad; if you wouldn't mind I'll come with you long enough to introduce everyone to Marc and Austin, then Marc can help you fill everyone in on how all of this happened."

Jon rustled Cory's hair. "Sure thing, kiddo. You need to spend some time with the rest of the guys anyways. You've had a rough day, go have some fun."

Cory gave Jon a quick hug. "Thanks Dad. You're the BEST!"

They went over and introduced everyone to Marc. When Marc asked how they had met, Cory giggled and replied "It's a long story bro; wait until Danny gets here and he'll fill in the blanks for ya'."

Once everyone was settled in, Cory turned to JR. "Did you remember your CD's dude?"

"Right here!" JR replied as he lifted the bag he was carrying. "Where is the stereo?"

Sean giggled. "Follow me; I'll show ya' where to put them!"

Cory made sure that JR's attention was diverted as they approached the sound board where Aaron, DJ, and Tanner were deep in discussion. As they reached the board, Sean asked "Hey Big Bro, this is JR. He's got some CD's he wants to add to the pile."

Just as Aaron turned around, JR looked up to see who Sean was talking to. His jaw dropped to his chest and the bag fell unnoticed from his hand. "Uhh .. . y'all didn't ... holy shi .... DUDE! You're Aaron Carter! OH MY GAWD!"

Aaron chuckled as he reached out to steady JR. "You must be JR; my evil little brothers told me about you! Relax dude, I'm just a regular guy just like you. Let me guess, they told you to bring your CD collection to play during lunch."

As Cory, Sean, DJ, and Tanner tried hard not to break out in giggles, JR looked over at the hand on his shoulder. "Wow! I ain't NEVER gonna wash this shirt!"

Tanner noticed that JR was starting to sway again, and quickly grabbed a chair. He decided to help Cory some by playing it up more. "Uncle Aaron, you better sit down and hold JR; he ain't lookin' too good!"

Aaron took a seat and guided a weak JR onto his lap. "Ok you clowns, chill out or all four of you are going swimming the hard way! JR, seriously dude, relax. Don't pass out on me."

DJ got a hurt look on his face. "What do you mean all FOUR of us? I didn't do nothin'!"

"You were thinking it; Tanner just beat ya' to it Deej." Aaron giggled. "Before you actually get yourself in trouble too, why don't you and your brother go round up our band? We should have time for another song before your grandma has food ready. Your Dad and Pop WILL help me calm JR down!"

Cory interrupted before DJ could reply. "Actually Deej, that's not a bad idea. Could you find Danny first though; I gotta introduce him formally to JR's family."

DJ nodded. "You're lucky AirHead! No prob Dad. C'mon bro; I think that Kyle's got him over at Jerry's teaching him new filing techniques."

Cory escorted Danny over to where Jon was in deep conversation with JR's parents and Will. Jon noticed the boys standing there patiently and smiled. "I see you found Danny! You didn't abandon JR did you Cory?"

Cory giggled. "No way Dad; we left him with Aaron and Sean. He's almost recovered enough that he can form sentences again!"

Jon grinned and shook his head. "I heard that he was a bigger Aaron Carter fan than Jerry. If Jerry is any indication, that was just evil Cory."

"Yeah, but it was sure fun to watch!" Cory giggled. "I think he's planning on hanging every piece of clothing he's wearing on the wall as soon as he gets home! I know he said that none of it's getting washed!"

Donald couldn't hold back his chuckles. "Thank you Cory! JR was scared that he wouldn't fit in out here; obviously if you pulled off a prank like this on him he has nothing to worry about. Watch out though; give him a few days to get comfortable and he'll start plotting ways to get even with you. Who is that you have with you?"

Cory smiled. "If that's the case, he'll fit right in! This is Danny Page, he is Director of Operations of Clan Short Artificial Intelligence Division. He is your main Clan contact here in Charleston; if he's not around then Marc is in charge. Danny, this is Superior Court Judge Donald Legette; next to him is his wife Margret. On the other side of Margret is Corporal Will Jackson, Charleston Police Department."

"Judge Legette, Mrs. Legette, Corporal Jackson; it is an honor to meet you." Danny replied as he shook hands with each of them.

"Likewise." Donald replied. "No need to be formal though, Danny; from what Marc has told me about you I have no problem with treating you as an equal. If you wouldn't mind, we would love to have you join us for a little bit to fill us in on some of the things that Marc here missed."

Danny smiled. "I probably better; I'm not sure I want you to hear the version some of these other guys will tell you!"

Jon pulled a chair over for Danny to sit in then turned to Cory. "Thanks kiddo. Go on and have some fun; Marc just talked to your Mom and the food should be ready soon. I'll take care of introducing all of the adults to each other for you when we go up there. Mary is setting up the tables now with Eli's help; make sure all of your boys sit with us at our table once it's ready."

Cory's face glowed with joy when he heard Jon's invite. "SWEEEET! No problem Dad; they'll all be there!" He turned and almost bounced with joy as he ran back to rejoin Sean.

Teri looked down 'her' side of the table with pride. The boys were just finishing off the last of the food and friendly conversation between them set the background. For the first time in what she considered way too long, Cory and Sean were just being themselves; neither one was trying to 'work', and both were allowing themselves to be kids.

Cory stood up and got everyone's attention. "If anyone starts snoring, I'll have Eli dump ya in the ocean! I gotta say a few things while y'all are sittin' down; stuff I guess I really shoulda said long ago. Kyle, you wired up to the other two Musketeers?"

Kyle nodded his head. "Yeah, they wanna know how you'll handle it if they fall asleep?"

Cory smiled. "They won't; they're gonna be too busy making sure the rest of the Clan gets the broadcast. All of you know I've had a rough day today; in a way I brought it on myself. Whenever Sean and I are not off having quiet time, I've been keeping myself occupied trying to make sure all of y'all were okay. I can't remember the last time I just did something by myself. I used to go jogging in the mornings to relax back at the Home; can anyone tell me the last time they saw me do that?"

Cory paused, and was not surprised that nobody answered.

"Guys, I shoulda been okay when I got hit by the memory earlier, Sean and I have worked on a lot of little surprises that we didn't worry y'all about. I guess what I'm tryin' to say is I screwed up bad, guys, and I gave y'all a bad example while I was doin' it. I got told today that all of y'all look at Sean and me like dads. That scares me, guys; I'm learning to be a dad without having any memory of what a dad is like. I think that's why I crashed. When Jon called us all family then smiled like my old dad at me, it broke the wall protecting me from that old memory. I wasn't ready for it, and I woulda totally crashed if he had not responded like a real dad would. Nothing against you, Mom, but sometimes guys need a Dad to hold them. When Mikey was alive, he kinda filled that spot for us. Dan's my shrink, he can't do it, he knows too much. All the rest of the adults are more like friends or uncles; I feel okay talkin to them but they don't fit as 'dads' for me. Jerry's dad Jon is different; he kinda let me know I needed to relax and be a kid again without actually telling me. I can't do anything about y'all lookin up to me, but until today I really did not know who to look up to to learn about being a dad. I know now, and I'm callin' him Dad from now on."

Cory looked around at the group, and was surprised to find every single eye glued to him.

"I saw something today while I was relaxing. All y'all are doing the same thing I've been doing, even Timmy and Ricky. All of y'all are acting like young adults even when you are playing; nobody argues if they don't agree with how something is done, they just go along with the rest of the group. That looks good to adults guys; but it's not us. I know some of y'all got hurt by doing that before we all got together, so why are we all doing it now?"

JJ stood up and interrupted. "Cory, hold it right there! You want argument up front you're gonna get it. You might be seeing a lot, but you ain't seeing all of it bro. Do you honestly believe we don't see it when you are pushing too hard? Bro, there have been nights when none of us have got any sleep because we're trying to find a way to help you and Sean have free time. You were right; you needed a dad; but not just to give you hugs. You need someone who'll get on your butt to take time off. There's a lot of crap going on all the time since we became a Clan; more crap than one person can deal with. A lot of that you get stuck with; you pass it off to whoever can handle it but you still have to deal with it first. That's why you don't see us argue; you don't need it. All of the telepaths, even the munchkins, work with us so that we argue in private and settle it without an audible word. You know what it's sounding like to all of us right now? It's sounding like you have decided we'd be better off if you quit. I've got news for both you and Sean; if EITHER one of you ever CONSIDERS quitting because you 'are not good enough', I'm the first in a VERY long line that is gonna kick your sorry ass across every continent on this planet. Yeah, you fuck up occasionally; so do I and so do the rest of the guys. You know something? Not a single one of us worries about it; we admit our mistake and move on. YOU taught us that, dipshit. If one of us is down, one of the others takes time to find out what is wrong; YOU taught us that too. Your boys love you because you ARE a good dad; not because you saved them. I've got a family now because after watching you I learned how to be a parent and still be a kid. Speaking of family; if you had not asked Jon to be your dad we were gonna do it. You were not the one who put up that wall around your memory of your original dad; Mikey did it to protect you from yourself. He knew that unless you had an adult you trusted and respected there it would break you down. Not only did you break down the wall when that person finally arrived, you managed to block both Ty and Kyle from your head completely; in fact you are STILL blocking your little brother. You wanna jog in the mornings? Say something; one of us will cover for ya. Don't be surprised if one or two of us join you though; you are not the only one who could use a relaxing run. A few months ago I stood in a shower and swore to stand by two guys I had just met and my new little brother. You know something? That was only the second time I followed my heart; the first was when I asked Dad to adopt Kyle. I got a news flash for you Cory; to this day I consider those two decisions the best ones I have ever made. I'll always have your back bro, until the day I die. You got a Dad finally, now relax and let all of us help you like you help us." JJ looked around the tables. "All of you need to think about what your priorities are now and what they should be; that includes all of you AI guys and you too JR. Once Cory gets back from the trip he's got to go on later, I'M calling a Clan-wide meeting at Headquarters. Everyone WILL be there, understood? Yes, you too JR, you're one of us now."

JJ took his seat, and gave Cory a look that all but dared him to countermand the final order.

Cory gulped. "Ummm ... okay, I guess we're having a meeting. Adam, I think you need to take JJ off for some private time; he's getting cranky." Cory had to duck to avoid the various objects being thrown at him by the suddenly blushing pair. Once they were out of ammo, Cory stood back up and continued. "You made your point, JJ; now I know how Kyle felt in the courtroom. Don't worry, I'm not quitting. I guess I just didn't see that you guys were trying to watch out for me too. I was going to suggest a meeting too, since we are getting so spread out we kinda need to work out a better way to do stuff when someone needs help. JJ, you proved that when you set up the AI division. You did the right thing as soon as you saw it; you just forgot to tell me about it! I didn't have anything to do with it; that was all you bro. I know it sounds weird, but I don't think I could live without you guys anymore; as far as I'm concerned the day we see that we are not wanted or not needed all of us with our families are gonna find a nice quiet planet and escape this rat race. I love all of you and would go through all of this all over again to save just one of you."

Jon stood up and pulled Cory into a hug. "You did great, kiddo; you've got a great support group with you. Listen to them and let them help, things will get a lot easier. You don't have to fight all of the battles yourself anymore; take on the big ones and let the other guys handle the little ones, okay?"

Cory squeezed Jon tightly. "Okay, Dad. Will you come to Orlando with the rest of the guys for the meeting please? I don't know how to set it up right, and I don't want it to become like the ground-side military."

"I'd be honored, kiddo; a good leader knows when to ask for help, and you just did. All I ask is if you don't understand or like a suggestion I make let me know so that we can sort it out and find the best solution. You guys have a lot in common with my job at the DNR; you need structure but everyone needs to be able to react without asking first."

Cory smiled as he broke the hug. "Thanks, Dad, that sounds perfect!"

As a hush settled over the group, Danny stood up and cleared his throat. "JJ, count on the entire AI division being present." he said with a smile. "Guys, if I can have the floor for a few, I kinda think it's my turn to not leave Cory out on a limb. You all have been together much longer than I have even been conscious in this time period. The past twenty-four hours has been absolutely amazing. I mean I know exactly where my new found brothers stand on my list of priorities, so I can just imagine the lists of those of you who have a stronger history together."

"STRONGER HISTORY? That don't make..." JJ started to get out before Danny shook his head causing him to stop.

"Here him out bonehead, he's tryin to get through this thought and it ain't easy." Kyle interjected.

"Thanks, Sport." Danny said, smiling at Kyle. "That's kinda what I'm getting at right there. I mean you guys look out for each other, protect each other, work with each other and no matter what the cost, you dedicate your time to others who need that same kinda support. I mean, circumstances led you to our front door; and in roughly one day's time, you became a part of our family. It wasn't sought out, it wasn't asked for, it just happened and became the strongest family bond I have ever seen in all my years. You all have so much to be proud of, and so much more to protect." Danny paused as he looked into the eyes of each person, stopping once he reached Alec and smiled. "I was forced to address my list of priorities earlier today by someone who will forever hold my admiration. That person forced me to look at a few mistakes I made in my life. Mistakes that would severely harm a common bond we all hold dear. Thanks to a little implanted info from a certain brain leech.." Danny said grinning at Kyle; "...that common bond is one we need to support and protect at all costs." Danny finished his sentence staring directly at Sean and Cory. "You guys are one in a million, maybe those odds are even greater than that considering the family as a whole, a family that is a direct result of you both sharing the love you have with all those around you. We all know it, we all feel it. Whether you have been a member of the family for a few months or a few minutes. You love without discrimination, and you give your all to protect all that you love. Something that I now feel strongly, right along with each and every one of you. I can speak for myself and Marc by the look on his face that our division will do anything we possibly can to make sure this family is never threatened. By outside forces or just from simply being overwhelmed. We all owe you two so much in so many different ways. I love you guys, right along with each and every member of this family. It's an honor to be a part of it, and I will forever fight to protect it. That's my personal promise to you both." Danny got out before sitting back in his seat, leaving the table dead silent until Kyle spoke up.

"Dan, whadaya mean I planted stuff in yur head? I never did." he asked scratching his head.

"Hey, while you're in there your mind is a source of information my processor can extract from. Seems fair I think." Danny said with a giggle as Kyle tilted his head and grinned.

"That's cheating!" Kyle shouted in mock anger earning a round of laughter from everyone at the table.

"Beaten at your own game, finally!" Aaron added thrusting his fist in the air.

Cory pulled Sean into a hug and turned to the group that had gathered around them. "Hey guys; we got a little time before we gotta run; let's make some noise!"

As the boys began to get up and move towards the bandstand, Kyle came up alongside Danny. "Danny?"

"Yeah Leech?" Danny giggled.

Kyle giggled back. "You know, that names gonna stick now don't ya? How much did you find out when you were in my head?"

Danny stopped, turned, and pulled Kyle into a hug. "Enough to know that you understand what I went through in the last months before I tried to kill myself, little buddy. You need to let it out soon; when you are ready I'm here for you little brother. It helps to talk to someone who has been there. You got a lot of hugs coming; hugs you are long overdue for."

Kyle turned his face up toward Danny, and with teary eyes asked "You don't hate me? Even after all of that?"

Danny squeezed Kyle tighter. "No I don't hate you. I respect you even more; you're a lot stronger than I was to make it through all of that. I love ya kiddo; your secret is safe with me until you are ready to talk. How much do your friends at headquarters know about your life?"

"All of it." Kyle muttered.

"Don't worry then, lil bro. What are their names, you know the ones you are always wired into?" Danny asked softly.

"Jamie and Jacob. Why?"

Danny gave a small smile. "Because it's time to settle that part of your life. Relax and enjoy yourself bro; I'm going to get things rolling to take care of some old business. You keep Cory occupied; I'm gonna handle this one."

Kyle nodded his head. "Okay, I guess. What's gonna happen?"

"Nothing. I just have a favor to ask of them." Danny stated ruffling Kyle's hair. "Go on, bro; I'll be right there." he added in a softer tone.

Kyle nodded and turned to walk off. He waited until he was a few feet away before commenting "Nice try bro; I understand though."

'Just keep it to yourself.' Danny thought to himself getting a nod from Kyle, who clearly got the message.

As Kyle wandered back to be with the rest of the clan, Danny headed up onto the deck for some privacy. Once there, he retrieved his communicator from his belt. 'Here we go.' Danny thought to himself as he opened it and keyed in the command to dial headquarters. "Headquarters, this is Director Page."

"This is Headquarters, Justy speaking. What's up Danny?"

"Justy, this may be outside of normal protocol but I kinda need to ask a huge favor." Danny said as quietly as he possibly could while peeking inside the open door to insure the conversation wasn't being overheard.

"Dude, you are head of AI Division; you SET protocol. What do ya' need done? We're having a special this week; two perverts vaporized for one price!" Justy responded with a giggle.

Danny rolled his eyes and sat down as he redirected his gaze toward the unnaturally innocent looking Kyle.'Touche, twerp.' he thought with a giggle. "I'm guessing you already have an idea why I'm calling."

Justy giggled. "Yeah, Kylegrams are great! I don't know all of the details; for some reason my little brothers refuse to tell me what happened in Kyle's past. All I know right now is they had me put Intelligence at Condition Yellow and told me to await your orders; they said they'll give what info is needed and nothing more. You wanna fill me in?"

Danny sighed before answering. "Sorry man, I don't have the right to provide the details, but your little brothers have the lead on what I need to ask. Condition Yellow stands. I need to ask that we actively seek out the biological father of the minor Kyle Richardson. This an official request. According to information I have come across, he is a threat that is on the loose and needs to be dealt with."

"Acknowledged, Director Page. Is this a Priority Action?" Justy replied, all traces of humor gone from his voice. "Don't worry about the details; the twins just informed me that if JJ knew he would personally skin Kyle's father alive, literally. If it's that bad I don't wanna know unless I have to."

"Thank you, Justy." Danny said with a sigh. "This is to be handled Priority One, but for the same reason we are maintaining silence regarding the details, I also would like to be the main contact until we locate that piece of trash. At which point BOTH divisions will be fully involved. Trust me, there is a growing line of people who would love to get hold of him." he replied trying as hard as he could to purposely keep Kyle out of his head as he added, "I'm no exception."

"Ummm; my little brothers just offered to hand you the knives. I don't want to know. This is an AI project until you call in reinforcements; you've got Priority One. I owe Kyle a few favors, so I'm going to oversee this one myself. Talk to ya as soon as we got something bro."

"Acknowledged and agreed Justy. Consider the call for reinforcements made the second the announcement that he's been located has been placed. No one is going to want to waste one second apprehending him. I just don't want to stress anyone locally over reactivating the issue, if you get my meaning." Danny replied as he spotted Alec waving his arms attempting to gain his attention.

"Gotcha bro; Blondie and his mount are to be kept in the dark! Go clear your head, I've got it now. HQ out."

After almost dropping his communicator from laughing too hard, Danny ended the call and ran back out toward the stage area to see what Alec needed. On the way by, he tapped Kyle on the back and thought 'Thank your brothers for me, ok?'

'Sure thing Danny, Thanks!' Kyle thought back. 'Oh yeah; Giddyup!' he added with an audible giggle.

"I am soooo not touching that one...LEECH!" Danny replied with a laugh.

Cory looked around at his expanded family and smiled. "I hate to say it, but we've gotta load up guys. Timmy, where is your raccoon?"

Timmy giggled. "He ain't mine Daddy! He's comin', he hadta make sure all da extra food was cleaned up!"

Cory giggled. "Okay Kiddo. Listen up guys; some of us get to take a break in Australia. Anyone not going along help pick up before ya beam out. We got two shuttles; split up between them. Here's the list of who's going; Kyle, tell the twins to have anyone back at headquarters that I list ready for Matt to pick up on his way."

Once Cory was sure everyone was listening, he started listing names. "Mom, John; not you Dad, another John, Dan, Matt, me, Sean, Gavin, Adam, JJ, Timmy, Ricky, their zoo, Kyle, Ty, Airboy, David, 'Roo, Brad, Harley, CD, Calen, Gabe, Trav, Tommy, Kelly, and Danny. Deej, Tanner; Justy called me and asked for you guys to help him with some project. He won't tell me what; but he needs you guys from the sound of it."

"Cory? I'm going?" Danny asked with his voice beginning to squeak.

Alec put a hand on Danny's shoulder and responded before Cory could. "Yeah, you're going bro. Remember what we talked about? Marc will be okay here; Justy's gonna keep in touch, if he needs help it's only a call away. You're needed there bro; Kyle helped me pick out what you needed to pack and we got it loaded already. Marc had Caleb set up a terminal for you on Cory's shuttle to use if you need it."

"Ok bro." Danny replied. "You guys will keep an eye on Marc tonight?" He asked toward Noah and Caleb.

"Dude, I'm already back to sixty-eight percent. In a few hours I'm outta the woods. Stop worrying, will you?" Marc said as he gave his brother a hug. "I couldn't be in better hands, really."

"I'm in." Danny said smiling at Marc. Danny pulled Marc into a long hug. "Take care bro; I'll be back as soon as I can." Danny then turned to face Alec. "A little warning would have been nice though." he said playfully, punching Alec in the arm.

Alec rubbed his arm. "Get used to it Danny!" He then lowered his voice and added "Take care of Cory for us bro."

The boys made the rounds, saying goodbye to everyone that was staying behind. Danny caught up with JR just as he was finishing his rounds. "Hey JR; take care of Marc for me, okay? Next trip I'll talk to your Dad and get it so you can come along."

JR grinned. "Sweet! Don't worry Danny; I'll make sure Dad and Will know it if he needs anything. Have fun; bring me back a tee-shirt!"

"No problem!" Danny replied as he turned and followed the last of the boys into the shuttle.

Once Danny was in, Sean turned to Cory. "Seal the hatch, Mr. Short. Danny, your terminal is by the jumpseat; if you want to use it. Gavin, make sure everyone's belted in bro."

Gavin did a double-take then grinned. "Dang, it's good to have a real family! No problem, Bro!" A minute later, Gavin announced with a giggle "Passengers secure, Captain!"

"Smart Alec!" Sean replied.

"No; we left Alec on the ground!" Gavin giggled.

Sean looked over at Cory, who had his hand over his mouth to hide his laughter. "I give up! Let's get going, Babe; next stop Kangaroo Land via Alligator Alley!"

Note: The adventures of Cory and crew in Australia are covered in Memories: Down Under chapters 7 and 8. The next chapter of Memories will cover what happens at Headquarters while Cory is away. Sorry about the split; but the time differences would make dual coverage about impossible!
